Celebrating International Women's Day

We hope you may be able to join us on 8th March for a community celebration of International Women's Day.

The theme “Give to Gain “, promoted by internationalwomensday.com, chimes with our concept of Breaking Bread. To clarify,  the United nations’ theme  which, this year, is Rights. Justice Action. For ALL women and girls.

Our focus is around family and community and how sharing food brings us all together.

Hear a brief history of bread, with intriguing tales of local women’s roles in baking in Bucks. Learn a little of the many varieties of bread and their cultural and global significance.

Fun for all the family, including a Quick Quiz, and recipes to take away. See our display of Fascinating Facts or try your hand at “Polish the Poem”: write something sublime…. for the Finishing Line!

Women have bound their families and communities together with the gift of bread through the ages. Recipes, stories and traditions, handed down and shared with family and friends, continue to this day.

Come along to sample breads, buns and more, from around the world. There will be spreads and dips and take-away bags for those who would simply like to have some samples of different breads and buns to take home to share, along with recipes.   Tea, coffee and cold drinks will be served.

We have a great RAFFLE, with a lovely variety of prizes, from books about baking bread, and Chocolate Labubu cake toppers, to baskets of other goodies.  We are grateful to Tesco in Old Amersham,  Nena in Amersham on the Hill and The Noisy Bakery in Burnham for their support. We hope we’ll have your support too.

All raffle proceeds will be split between our local Chiltern Foodbank, and UNICEF’s appeals for children in Ukraine and Gaza.

Tickets just £3 each (£1 under 16’s).    EVERYONE WELCOME. Details and booking here:
