Chesham Market Square

Save our High Street

Join our campaign to save Chesham's High Street & Market Square

Conservative controlled Buckinghamshire Council is trying to sneak through permanent changes to Chesham - allowing cars into the pedestrian Market Square, opening the High Street to two way traffic and killing off local events with massive charges.

The council is rushing through a three-week consultation to make an "experimental" traffic order (ETRO) permanent.

If we don’t speak up now, we lose our pedestrian-friendly town centre forever.

The Liberal Democrats are demanding a stop to this:

  • NO to Reopening Market Square: Keep it a safe, pedestrian-friendly space for our community, not a shortcut for cars.

  • NO to Two-Way Traffic: Reintroducing two-way traffic on the High Street will cause havoc, increase pollution, and put pedestrians at risk.

  • NO to the "Event Tax": Astronomical charges of up to £2,100 for local events will strangle our town & communities' lifeblood.

Buckinghamshire Council are refusing to listen.

We have until February 16th to make our voices heard.

Consultation is here - https://yourvoicebucks.citizenspace.com/roads-parking/chesham-tc-etro-two/

Save Chesham's High Street & Market Square!

We, the undersigned, call on Buckinghamshire Council to cancel this ETRO as a matter of urgency and protect Chesham's Market Square!
